Mini Kelpies Statues have been installed the west end of princes street, they are smaller versions of their siblings through in Falkirk. The mini Keplies will remain there until the end of the Edinburgh festival.
For the non Scottish, a Kelpie is a mythical water spirit they normally take the form of a horse, you have a urge to mount and ride the beautiful beast, however when mounted there is no escape! They will bolt to the nearest loch or body of water dragging you to the depth and your eventual death.
I think these are wonderful, it would be great if they found a permanent home here in Edinburgh.
These are surely the most beautiful pieces of monumental art in the British Isles ( really sorry Anthony Gormley!) There should certainly be a permanent pair in Edinburgh.
